Staying at Ruby's Campground, I think Ruby owns the whole area. Actually in 1916 Ruby Syrett brought his family to Southern Utah to ranch. Within weeks of their arrival, a fellow rancher told Ruby about the canyon called Bryce. He was so impressed, that by 1919, they had obtained permission to the state to build and lodge, the "Tourist Rest" and since then, it has been a "Licence to Print Money".
Made a trip out to Kodachrome Basin in the morning, beautiful drive, not too touristy...(no foreign tour buses...we can actually understand the language here , ha ha
Managed to muster up the courage to go on a hike, really glad we did, great views and peaceful. Would certainly consider staying here for a few days at the State Park....always a next time.
hum..... If I don't watch it, they may never be able to find me out here
On the way back to Bryce, we noticed a few cars stopped at one of the pull-overs, so thought it looked like a good place to check out, so glad we did. The river was a welcome relief from the heat!!!
The rock is so orange here, absolutely amazing!!!
We haven't even been into Bryce National Park yet and are totally in awe of the landscape, its just so different from what we are used to back at home, the colours are just amazing!!
But it's also HOT HOT HOT, OMG, did I mention its HOT???!!!
So back to Ruby's World, to let Gracie out for a piddle before actually heading to Bryce Canyon to see what its all about.
And its all about AMAZING!!!
Even though it was almost 33 degrees in Bryce, we went on a 3 mile hike, 1.5 mile down into the canyon and ... yes, what goes down....must come up....!!!
Okay one last picture of rocks, Inspiration Point
And at the end of it all, in the 30 plus degrees weather....done!!!! I think it's Miller Time!!!
