Sunday, June 12 - Page Arizona

Well no storm last night as expected, woke up to .....YES, sunny skies, hot by 9:00 am.

Lazy morning before we headed out to Antelope Lower Canyon for a tour that I had wanted to do.  After the "less than exciting boat cruise" yesterday, I think George was questioning my "tour guide skills". So glad I insisted we go today.

So after $8.00 each to enter the Navajo land where the tour started, we hoped the $20.00 each to tour the Antelope Canyon for 1 1/2 hours would prove to be better value for our money than yesterday...

Started out pretty much the same as most things around here...Dixie Ellis' Lower Antelope Canyon Tours....http://antelopelowercanyon.com/

Tour busses......mostly non-English speaking guests...

This is the symbol of  "Licence to Print Money"

$20.00 fee per person
x
15 or 16 people
x 25 average per day

Equals a big fat $7,500 PER DAY!!!!

Kendrick, our Tour Guide, was just so awesome.
He set everyone's cameras and cellphones to take the best pictures.  Then he made sure through the entire 2 hours that we were out there, that he got pictures of couples etc. throughout the canyon.  He is a native to this area, having grown up herding sheep for his family, taking care of planting/harvesting of their crops.  He is about 25, and wants to teach his nieces and nephews how to live a clean life, the way he was brought up.

Last picture before going down under....

It was pretty busy with 2 tour companies having groups leaving every 20 minutes...but once you got down in the Canyon, after about 5 minutes, the groups dispersed and it was okay.
Kendrick was pretty insistent that nobody take pictures on the stairs down....(some were so steep going down backwards was the best way) and no selfie sticks....apparently, they had to close the Canyon down the day before for 4 hours because a guy broke his hip somehow....probably taking a picture going down the stairs....

It kinda reminds me of soft serve icecream, sometimes Vanilla, and sometimes Chocolate & Vanilla swirl....

It was really nice and cool down in the Canyon, which was a really nice change from the scorching warm temperatures we had been having.

Kendrick was telling us that their tour company had been one of the first in the area, and when they started doing tours some of the guides were a tender age of 8 or 9, they had been roaming the Canyons all their lives and knew the area so well...people were a little shocked when they were introduced to their guide for the first time....

This is really cool, when Kendrick does a walk through in the mornings...to make sure all is good in the Canyon before the tourists come....he plays his flute....its a different kinda flute that what our kids say learned to play in band class, a wooded flute....he didn't have it with him, but he did have a snip-it of him playing on his phone...sorry this is sideways...techie me can't move it the right way, ha-ha

Depending on there you move your camera, where you are in the Canyon, it is an entirely different look and colour....But it still all looks like Soft-Serve Ice cream, just a different flavour depending on where you are .... love it....

And after almost 2 hours......we emerge again....
kinda creepy seeing people walk out of a little slit in the earth....
After we got out of the Canyon, they were calling for a buggy to pick up a lady in the tour group before us as she was not able to walk out, and as the buggy approached, Kendrick, (who  is a little sceptical whether the people in the buggy were just lazy-rich tourists, or actually injured), so he says out loud...."Now that doesn't look like an emergency"....until the Buggy goes by...and the guy in the middle seat has a towel wrapped around his head  bent over in pain and is being held in by the other riders...."Oh....now maybe that's an emergency"....PRICELESS!!!

Awesome tour, Awesome Tour Guide!!! would do that all over again...

So on our drive back to our campsite....we stopped at Safeway....and check out this guy..or girl...talk about using every usable inch of space...and then some...

But now this would be the most unusual and bizarre thing we have seen.... remember, this is a guy...
AND A CLOSE UP.....AND THOSE ARE LADIES LACE UNDERWEAR....!!!!! Somebody must have lost a bet....but funny enough....he didn't look like this was anything  but a walk back from the beach....Only in America !!!
Good night at our last night in Page Arizona, Cheers!!!!
