We finally got the bikes off the back of the trailer and on the road!!!! It was either way too stinking hot or just not really a great place to ride.
Figured if we headed out early enough, it wouldn't be too bad, and it wasn't. Just a short ride from our campsite, and we have paved bike paths which go for miles and miles.
This is what we get every time we leave Gracie in the trailer.....sad eyes!!!
But we had to do it....nice ride along the Colorado River..
Jet boaters going way faster than we were....
But we were a bit faster than these two....think they looked a little confused...
Now our first stop in Canyonlands is at a State Park called Dead Horse State Park, which we got into for FREE!!!! (George was being tricky!!!)
The Navajo's used this area to corral wild horses...Now the blue in the background...is really really blue...almost a Neon Blue!!!
They are Solar Evaporation Ponds for a local Potash Company.
We almost opted out of visiting Canyonlands....but so glad we didn't. I was not going any further out on this rock!!! This stuff is freaking me out!!!
It was kinda crazy, you would go from deep canyons....
to grasslands, where it looked like cattle should be grazing...
Then to the end of the Earth, or so it looked...
This young guy scared me....
It just go on for what seems like forever, it's hard to describe how small you feel in all this vastness...Over a 1 mile hike out to the point, felt much longer, but worth it for sure.
Don't worry, I am still a chicken....I made sure I was safe before I got up there!!!
Now that's how you do it!!! Sorry Gracie, you are just a little too heavy for this one!!! but awesome idea.
Once again, NOT us on the rock ....I really thought about getting up there, accessed the situation....NOPE, I still couldn't do it!!! It just freaks me out totally!!! This was the end of the hike, amazing views all around!!
What a great way to mark the trails!!
And just another pic.... before we way....
Love you Utah!!!
