Saturday, June 11 - Glen Canyon

You guessed it, another scorcher of a day.  We did get a few splatters of rain last night, but hardly enough to do anything, it's so warm, it just kinda evaporates before anything else.

Did a short hike up and down to Horseshoe Bend, it kinda looks like a pilgrimage of sorts doesn't it?

And down the other side...

AND THEN THERE IT IS....  This is NOT US, I repeat NOT US....

Oh, NO NO, it took me many many tries to get even close enough to the edge of any of the cliffs to try to actually capture the Horseshoe.....so after sweaty palms (not from the heat), shaking from FEAR...I laid down on the rock face and slowly scooted myself close enough to the edge...

TO FINALLY GET THIS...YAY!!!!

OMG!!!!!

Here I am freaking out, and there are parents with children about 7 and 8, and they are running all over the cliffs....and I am wondering..."Do they not really like their kids very much??" Do they have a few spares at home????

And after I settled my nerves a little, we did manage to get a few nice pics...

Stopped at the Glen Canyon Dam to have  a look around...I couldn't get off the bridge fast enough after taking a few pictures...still a little unsteady after the Horseshoe Bend episode....

Looks like a storm is brewing, black clouds to the North, very windy, and we are booked on a short Antelope Canyon boat cruise....luckily it is only 1 1/2 hours so we should make it back before anything happens.

Now this is how you make a Waterslide...

Kinda cool to see the Canyon walls up close and personal

And these guys were so far away from anywhere....

hope they are really strong strong paddlers...

And after every good Touristy thing you do....

.someone looking for a Gratuity !!!!

We have been looking for infamous Jackelope everywhere....

....But this is as close as we have come...

But we did see a ROADRUNNER!!! This is what he looked like to me....

Because who hasn't watched hours and hours of this....????

But he actually looked like this.....This is not my picture, he was way too fast for me to catch a picture of him...
